Michele Wickham & Terryberry Partner Webinar – How to Build Psychological Safety in Teams

Webinar

08/22 | 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM ET

  • Are your leaders grappling with people who are hesitant to speak up?
  • Do your team members lack initiative, and struggle to share ideas or collaborate effectively?
  • Are internal conflicts left unaddressed?
  • Are mistakes covered up or problems surfaced reluctantly?

Neuroscience research has demonstrated that fear inhibits learning, growth and collaboration. When people feel defensive or vulnerable because of a lack of psychological safety, little energy is left for problem solving, productivity or creativity. So if you want to improve the employee engagement in your team, start with building psychological safety.

Learning Objectives:

  • The current state of employee engagement and the link to psychological safety.
  • The symptoms and impact of low psychological safety on team performance.
  • The Thrive Equation and how to use it to build psychological safety.
  • Five practices you can implement immediately to improve psychological safety.
  • How to integrate psychological safety into your leadership development programs.

Michele Wickham
Managing Director
Zebra Blue

For the last 29 years, I’ve worked as an Organisational Psychologist, consultant, and coach within a corporate environment, focusing on leadership development, change management and employee engagement. I am an ICF PCC accredited coach, an internationally qualified Meta-Coach and Systemic Team Coach. I am also accredited to use the IEQ Enneagram Assessment with individuals and teams and I use this tool as a powerful avenue for reaching a deeper understanding of ourselves and the motivations and drivers behind our behaviour.

I’ve held several positions during my time in Corporate and Investment Banking, including heading up change teams and driving leadership and culture change initiatives. In 2010, I became a managing partner in Optimal, now known as Zebra Blue. I am currently the owner and MD of Zebra Blue.

I believe that we all have an innate urge to grow and be more, but that most of us have much more potential than we are experiencing and living. There are times when we don’t step into our full potential because it requires that we face and overcome the obstacles in our environment and within ourselves – and this requires hard work and effort. Often, the most demanding job lies in confronting ourselves and removing the self-imposed limitations to our growth and success.

As a coach and facilitator, I offer a safe place to have powerful conversations where these obstacles are examined and dismantled. My coaching training is grounded in Systemic Team Coaching, Self-Actualization Psychology, Positive Psychology, Neuroscience, and Neuro-semantics. I draw on my experience as an Organizational Psychologist and my work in Change Management, Leadership, and Organisational Culture.

Most recently, I have worked with executive teams in Standard Bank, Rand Merchant Bank and ABSA in South Africa. I also design and run bespoke workshops, team interventions and coaching programs, most recently with BBD Software in the Netherlands, and Fitch Ratings in the UK, US and Hong Kong.

In addition to my coaching and facilitation work, I consult to leadership teams in the corporate sector, and design powerful interventions and development programs that empower individuals, teams and organizations to thrive through the power of human connection.

I have a team of associates who collaborate with Zebra Blue to deliver large scale projects.
